Tabata Shibori T-shirt by Mr Tabata, a shibori dyeing artisan from Kyoto.
Kyoto has preserved the art of shibori dyeing for over a thousand years.
This time-honoured craft continues to be passed down through generations, and with Kyoto’s uniquely refined techniques, they create works imbued with warmth, depth, and beauty - expressions that can only be achieved by the hands of skilled artisans.
Each piece is one of a kind, so variations in colour and pattern will naturally occur, adding to the uniqueness and charm of your item.
This T-shirt is created using Boushi Shibori, a traditional Japanese shibori technique in which the fabric is tightly bound before dyeing to create distinctive patterns.
Boushi Shibori is a technique in which cellophane, nylon, vinyl, or other materials are wrapped around the areas of the fabric where the pattern is to be created, preventing dye from penetrating those areas.
